Goshorn sighting(s)

Fortunately it's not rare to hear the Goshorns here around Cincinnati, but last night (Sun 12-17) was special - a reunion put together in the space of two weeks to benefit a much-loved Cinci area musician, Fred Fogwell, who has fallen on some very hard times of late. After some stellar local acts, the highlight of the evening saw the Goshorn Bros and bassist Joe Stewart reunited, all original members with Fred of The Sacred Mushroom, late-60's area compatriots of PPL. Many thanks are due Larry and Tim for being the driving force putting together a killer show, and also for ending the gig with Two Lane Highway - the crowd predictably went crazy...

haven't posted for awhile - deadlines etc...all the best to everyone for the holidays!

Real nice to hear from you again, glad all is OK.

That sounds like a great show, I'd love to see Larry and Tim again, it's a can't miss.You are real lucky to catch that one, and it certainly was for a worthy cause. It's wonderful to see Larry still has such strong ties and concern for his old Sacred Mushroom buddy.

You can't get Larry on a stage and have him leave without one of the all time classics Two Lane Highway !!

Larry and Tim still sound incredible and have two CD's out, you'll love both.One is a live one and has some PPL classics, the other a studio with some real nice songwriting and musicianship. It also has a new version of All The Lonesome Cowboys, a much slower version which Tim puts over so well !

There is also a link where you can catch the guys perform live doing Kentucky Moonshine and a great tune from their last CD, Trouble and Strife.

In addition there are two CD's Larry put together from various musicians called Shades Of Blue, both very good and crtically acclaimed.

And not to forget The Lizard's classic Sacred Mushroom CD, which is also available.

Check it out, it's well worth it.Hey who knows, maybe we can catch Larry or Tim this year ! That would be a treat.

The live CD that Tom refers to is excellent. There's a few familiar PPL songs they penned as well as some other tasty songs - great musicianship and nice vocals.

Hi Mike,

Yes, that Live one sure is a killer, the Brothers are blazing! Two Lane, Cowboys, Kentucky Moonshine and Sunshone Lightly are all on it, as well as a tune called Up In Smoke which Tim first did as a member of PPL back around '85. It's about the fires in Laurel Canyon, which unfortunately took the home and belongings of Mike and Larry in '79.

There are two outstandingg covers: Crazy Mama and I'm Not Like Everybody Else, which Larry also recorded on the Sacred Mushroom Lp in '69. Great stuff.

The Studio CD, Life, is extremely well produced by Larry and has the Brothers in a more relaxed mode, yet still pops in a few with some grit. I enjoy the songwriting and vocals, and Larry and Tim still maintain that cohesiveness musically that they have always had. They still sound very much like their PPL days, the voices have not lost a thing and work so well together.
