RIP Sneaky Pete

Sad news came through today about the passing of "Sneaky" Pete Kleinow, a true innovator in the pedal steel and "west coast country rock" world.

I can't think of a direct connection to this forum, but his contributions to the country rock genre in the late 60's - early '70s and beyond playing with the Flying Burrito Brothers, Linda Ronstadt and Jackson Browne, to name only a few, place him high up with the bands and players often mentioned here. His unique style and versatility influenced many many others, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if many of the players spoken of here had worked with Pete at one time or another. His daughter Anita gave frequent updates on his health of late on the Pedal Steel Guitar forum, and much more can be learned there about him and his music if anyone is interested:

He was without a doubt one of the best ever pedal steel guitarists ever!!! Heaven's Band just got better...

He was one of the great early country rockers.
