Very Sad News: Tim Goshorn has passed away

Postby Tom » Sun Apr 16, 2017 10:05 am

Hello prairie dogs,

There is never a good time for this type of news.

I heard yesterday from Mike Reilly that sadly, Tim Goshorn has passed away . Jeff just made mention of his lung cancer battle the other day and obviously it was over all too quickly.

This is truly a sad time for Tim's family and friends , of which there are many, and the fans who followed Tim's career and still have the pleasure of being entertained by the enormous legacy he left behind. He was a terrific musician and those who knew him cannot say enough things wonderful things about a great man. A few years ago brother Larry had a serious health issue so The Goshorn's have been through some very difficult times.

As Mike stated yesterday, the first time he played with Tim, Tim was 12 years old. You can imagine the journey PPL band members have shared with Tim and how difficult it is to hear such terrible news. There is much more to share regarding Tim's legacy but for now let's just remember Tim and the entire Goshorn family in your prayers.

All the best,
Tom Sheridan

As Tom stated, the entire PPL family is saddened by Tim's passing. He was a great guitarist, talented songwriter, a naturally gifted singer, and a witty, warm, wonderful guy. He will be missed, but we honor Tim best by keeping his memory and his music alive. We've been doing Sun Shone Lightly in our shows for several years, and recently added All The Lonesome Cowboys back into our show.
On Father's Day, June 18th, I was honored to participate in a musical tribute to Tim and his music In his hometown of Cincinnati. It was a great afternoon, with music played by a lineup of brilliant musicians that have played with Tim over the years. Our special thanks go out to the organizers, musicians and the Twentieth Century theater in Oakley, very near where Tim and Larry grew up. Tim's brother Danny sang harmonies with me on Memories, Two Lane Highway and Crazy Mama. With such a talented group of musicians - please check out Play It Forward's website for the lineup - all of the day's songs took on a memorable feel and special meaning. The packed house provided such an amazing amount of energy to each song; the feeling in the room was electric and uplifting. I sincerely hope that all PrairieDogs will keep Tim and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Tim's already up there jammin' out with Conway and cracking everybody up. Godspeed, Brother Tim !
